Portland Friends of the Library

Our Mission

Maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; Stimulate the use of library resources and services; Support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community; Encourage gifts, endowments and bequests to the library; Support literacy, electronic information literacy, lifelong learning, and the love of reading.

Our Goals:
• Outreach to homebound (books/music/tapes to adult foster care homes)
• Children’s/teens programs (chaperone teen lockout, assist with children’s programs)
• Computer classes for adult community members
• November - Reception to thank supporters of the Library
• December – Reception “Come Home to Portland for the Holidays”
• Book Discussions Monthly
• Work with library staff to maintain a FOL link on the Library’s web site
• Work with the City and the schools to disseminate Library and FOL information to the public
• Host an annual Senior Citizen reception at the Library 
• Fulfill Library Wish List Items
• Provide a FOL Brochure to encourage community participation in the FOL

Annual Dues (calendar year):

Student (under 18 or with college ID) - $5 Individual - $12 Family - $18
Senior Citizen (62 & over) - $8 Patron - $50 (a member who wishes to support FOL , but prefers not to attend meetings or participate in events, but may choose to do so at any time)

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month.  An annual meeting to elect officers is held in May.
